Ultra-high power laser for vitrification of borosilicate glass

The glass solidification technology has been studied by many researchers for decades to handle the trouble of high-level liquid waste (HLLW). However, widely used joule-heated ceramic melter also disadvantages such as complicated processes, easy deposition heavy metals, and low thermal efficiency. To deal with these problems, we proposed a new device based on ultra-high power laser heating HLLW. HLLW was mixed borosilicate glass, melting, clarifying, annealing processes were carried out in crucible using heat. We test properties solidified body then analyze it. results show that beads completely melted other indicators are line requirements. As result, is heated an feasible vitrification potential overcome traditional technology. This research helpful explore processes.
